Announcing the Healthy Pregnancy Initiative!

The Healthy Pregnancy Initiative

I have done this work for a decade now. And most recently I have seen a trend of women not getting the information they need to stay healthy to have the births that they desire. There are so many reasons for this. Providers having their hands tied by rules & policies, making it impossible to share truly preventative measures. Simply not having access to quality information. Or funds making it hard or impossible for women to seek the care that they need.
The result of this is a severe uptick in inductions. Some of them medically necessary for things that possibly could have been prevented. And some recommended only because it is the only option provided to a family.
As a doula, this has been a frustrating thing to witness. Out of this necessity, I decided to come up with The Healthy Pregnancy Initiative program. The program is a discount program that applies to my doula clients. I will offer a discount from my fee if clients utilize certain practices that are statistically known to improve healthy outcomes during pregnancy & birth.
Clients can combine these discounts in any way they see fit along with my other discounts for using cash & paying up front (up to a $300 discount in total). By doing this, they can receive up to $300 off of my base price!
These services & measures include:
  • Receiving chiropractic care from a WEBSTER CERTIFIED chiropractor or care from Logan (chiropractic school in Chesterfield) as that can be a cost friendly option. Getting adjusted can help keep mom healthy & experience less aches & pains. But it also helps babies be in the best position for birth, which can eliminate a lot of stalls in labor that may constitute an intervention being offered.
  • Seeing a pelvic floor physical therapist. Pelvic floor PTs can help you have a more enjoyable & healthy pregnancy. Having a balanced pelvic floor cannot only help with baby's position but give you tools to breathe in labor & pushing. Many know of the benefits for postpartum but they can be helpful in birth as well!
  • Hiring an out-of-hospital midwife to provide or aid in your care. This could look like planning a homebirth with a CNM or CPM or utilizing a midwife to provide complementary care if you are using an OB. Midwives are known to improve birth outcomes. The US has dismal outcomes at the moment but most women hire OBs as care providers. In many other countries midwives are used for healthy, low risk pregnancies. Midwives tend to use less intervention & offer more individulized care.
  • Having a health share ministry. When families utilize this type of coverage over traditional health insurance, they have more control over the decisions surrounding their care. Because they are not limited by being in network, they are free to shop around for the type of provider that truly fits their needs. Which can lead to better health outcomes.
My hopes are that if I offer a discount from my services, that it could take out some of the cost prohibitiveness some may have in receiving these vital services. And it proves how much I believe in their effectiveness. I in no way receive any financial incentive for this program. I just this view this as a way for my clients to have healthier birth outcomes. I really want to see moms & babies in our community thriving not just struggling to survive!

This is not open to repeat clients or those who receive a military discount.

If you would like referrals to any of the types of professionals listed above, hope on over to the Birth & Postpartum Resources tab on this site. And more details about the program will be listed on the Services & Rates tab.
